The client acquired this industrial property with the goal of converting it into a functional two-storey office space, complete with rear shop space and ample outdoor storage. Non-combustible framing and construction were necessary to separate the business/office occupancy from the medium industrial use of the rear shop space. We collaborated closely with the architect and design team to ensure the space aligned with the company's culture, mission, and evolving needs.
The new layout divides the department teams and private offices by glass partition to allow borrowed light from the adjacent naturally-lit spaces. The ground floor office features polished concrete flooring, micro cement walls, and natural oak millwork and paneling throughout the office spaces. The second level has a more playful lounge area, an open workspace, and dedicated spaces for collaboration. Access to ample breakout and meeting spaces for team huddles helps preserve the open work areas for focused tasks.
